Doggedly Devoted owner and certified dog trainer Megan Coryat will be teaching a 5-week Beginner Level Obedience class for dogs and their humans. The course will run for five consecutive Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, September 7 through October 5. The cost for the course is $245. Registration is now open and will close September 2, or when all the spots are filled. Registration is limited to 5 teams so that each training team gets individual attention....

Pool Pawty: July 23 from 1 to 5 pm

Doggedly Devoted is hosting a Pool Pawty for our daycare dogs. The pool party will be Saturday, July 23 from 1 to 5 pm. Partiers must have a full day, afternoon half day, or boarding reservation for July 23, and tickets are $9 per pooch. Partying pups will get to play pool party games and go home with party favors. Partiers may arrive as early as 12 pm (but no later than 2 pm)....

Trainer's Corner: No Silver Bullets

Recently I followed up with a client about the training, management, and medical intervention that we put in place to help their dog with anxiety, and her owner wrote back that the tricky treat toys seemed to be helping, but they were not a silver bullet. This phrase–“silver bullet”–got me to thinking about how to set expectations around training, because there never are silver bullets. The trainer who tries to sell you one is doing both you and your dog a disservice....
