Our friends at Bully Project have some gorgeous and sweet dogs that are in need of fostering and forever homes. Poor Paris has been bought, sold and now saved, all on Craigslist. This gangly, underweight Great Dane pup is sweet as pie and and super goofy. She needs a little patience while she learns her manners. Waldorf is a lovely pup who enjoys the company of dogs and people. He is about 10 months old and weighs about 60 lbs....
All her life that she remembers, Amelie wanted a dog–a black Labrador Retriever, to be exact–but as a child her parents said “no pets.” As an adult, Amelie’s circumstances weren’t conducive to having a dog until she moved to New York City with her husband, Nicolas, and scored a pet-friendly apartment with a generous terrace. For her 29th birthday, Nicolas told Amelie to get the dog of her dreams. It didn’t happen right away, but with that, Amelie’s research process started....
Riggs’s life story is all about second chances. Riggs was picked up by Animal Care and Control when he was found wandering up and down Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx. He must have been stressed by the shelter environment because this sweet guy that we all know and love was flagged as being aggressive toward dogs and people. Luckily for Riggs (who was being called Buster Brown at that time), a New Hope partner organization, Pet-I-Care, found him and decided that his failure to pass the SAFER test was a fluke....
Doggedly Devoted owner and certified dog trainer Megan Coryat will be teaching a 5-week Beginner Level Obedience class for dogs and their humans Thursday nights at 7:15 pm, September 10 through October 8. The cost for the course is $220. Registration is now open. Registration is limited to 5 teams so that each training team gets individual attention. New this fall is Intermediate Level Obedience classes for dogs that are looking for a challenge....
We are sad to share the news that Riley has passed away after living with cancer for the past several months. Riley was an exuberant player who loved toys and dogs. He spent his last months out on Long Island, relaxing in the sunshine and staying cool in his little pool. We will always remember Riley running with at least one, and sometimes two, toys in his mouth, enticing his friends to play along....
